A Ridiculous Week of Stupid Proportions
Hello everyone I am back with probably the craziest update I've had, second only to the "There and Back again" update. Let's get started.
August 31, 2020 Mon
Today was P-Day! We went to St. George with Gish and Saucier, got some Crumble cookies which were pretty good, then grabbed Sonic which was delicious. We hungout, played games, and talked with fam. In the evening the Zone Leaders stopped by and helped set up lessons which was great.
September 1, 2020 Tues
Here's when things get interesting. I was doing my morning studies and everything when Elder De Voe came into the room telling me his gut hurt. I figured he could be dehydrated so I told him to drink some water. I was kind of alarmed, but still pretty calm and figured he'd be fine. Not two minutes after drinking the water he proceeded to vomit it all back up. At that moment I was like, "Alright...something's wrong here." Before we left I gave Elder De Voe a blessing of healing just to help in a way I could. I called Nielsen and Williams and they took us to Urgent Care in St. George (cause the one in Hurricane stinks). After a car ride with my companion vomiting into a bag in the back seat next to me we made it to Urgent Care. The doctor said he has Kidney Stones..."yaaay". He threw up from how painful it was, and may I add he was very loud and animated in the midst of it. But after all that, he was ok and we kinda just hungout the rest of the day.

Today we had interviews with the Mission President which were fine, then we worked on this thing called the Drip Chart (a Chart for lessons we have), afterwards we went to St. George for Elder De Voe's dermatologist appointment where he got a cist removed from his face. The music that was playing while the procedure was going on was 80s rock, so I was low key jamming the whole time. On our way home we snapped a pic of the St. George Temple, dropped off mile logs, grabbed Chick-fil-a for Dinner, and then hungout until a lesson we had in the evening.

September 3, 2020 Thurs
Elder De Voe's pain came back so we called Nielsen and Williams for another vommit filled road trip to St. George, this time to the ER for a CT Scan. His Kidney Stone is 4mm and almost to the bladder. They gave Elder De Voe some Morphine for the pain so he was high all day afterwards and it caused him to throw up when we got home. We grabbed lunch on our way home, Knowles helped me with a lesson, and I heard a lot of suffering from my companion. Not fun...very not fun.
September 4, 2020 Fri
We had District Council Meeting today which was awesome, the Zone Leaders joined us and Elder Ferguson gave an awesome training. Afterwards we all got Costa Vida for lunch, then kinda went off to do our own things. Elder De Voe and I did weekly planning and worked on some goals. Then we went to dinner with the Assistants to President. It was pretty good. Afterwards we worked on the Drip Chart and did some contacting. Knowles and Ferguson approached me about helping with a Facebook video, (they asked because of how our movie The District ended up looking). Nice to be able to use my talents out here.
September 5, 2020 Sat
So today we traded in the Elantra for the 2020 Equinox, at the request of the Vehicle Coordinator, he also bought us Five Guys. After that Nielsen and Williams did an area blitz with us, which is just calling a ton of people and setting up as many lessons as possible. Then we had District Dinner which was Tacos, a lesson, then helped Knowles and Ferguson with their video.
September 6, 2020 Sun
So today we recieved maybe the worst news, well almost worst news. An Elder tested Positive for COVID 19. He's actually another Elder from Sacramento area. I haven't met him yet and probably won't for a while. The big fear was everyone was going to be in lockdown because everyone was in contact with someone who was in contact with someone who was in contact with someone who was in contact with this Elder. Give or take. But only those in direct contact are the ones in strict lockdown. Everyone else is just to be extremely cautious. Other than that we had 3 awesome lessons today. Those were good.
This has been a ridiculous week of stupid proportions. We went to St. George 5 times. What the heck man? Well I have definitely learned patience this week and learned even harder that a "brightness of hope" is necessary to even survive.
I know these times are for my benefit. I know these times are a learing experience. I know I have opportunities to help others which in turn helps me. I know that my mission will most likely be like this for the rest if it. Full of twists and turns, confusion and commotion, but with all of this I know, as did Joseph Smith in liberty Jail,
"7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;
8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.
9 Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands." (D&C 121:7-8)
The day my friends will "hail me again" will come sooner than expected and desired. Which is saying something cause I really look forward to that day. But until then, I know that can recieve peace into my soul, and so can you, and so can everyone. I promise you this, that if you call upon God, having faith that he will help you. He will help you in the way you need. Not in the way you want, the way you need. This I promise in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
I love you all and pray for you often. Send me an email and stay safe.
