Wait a little bit, then reflect
Hey everybody!
Oct 5, 2020 Mon
Today was P-Day! We did a little cleaning and then Gish and his new companion Elder Child came over and we played games. It was so fun and really good to see him. After that I talked with the fam. Then the Stockett's stopped by, said hello, and gave us quite a load of treats (they brought blessed Dr. Pepper!) It was awesome to see them. And then we had a member lesson. It was a solid day.

Today we didn't have much. We did our studies, I called about getting a magnetic name tag, we went to Butler and Hanson's apartment to get some of Johnson's mail and we also hungout a little. We went to a church, listened to an online missionary devotional, went and had dinner, then chilled. I had a lot of time to get to know Elder Johnson today which was nice.

Today our areabook almost worked, but it didn't. We still can't use it. So we didn't do a lot today. We did go for a long walk on which we got corn dogs. We also played some basketball with some online MTC goers at a church building, hungout with Nielsen, Schagel, and Martin, then came home.

Today we had our District Council Meeting, which was alright. Afterwards Elder Johnson and I went to Hanson & Butler's and Jensen & Spotten's Apartments to use their washers and dryers cause our place doesn't have one or the other. While each load was going, we got gas from Elder Sinsay, grabbed Jamba Juice and Chick-fil-a (great combo, great lunch), and hungout at Hanson and Butler's. Our Zone Leader's, Elders Olsen and Furlong came over and talked with us and had a companion study. After that, we grabbed our laundry, went for a walk, and then went home.

Today our areabook started working! So we did some contacting. There wasn’t much success, but it still works! We went for a walk, had someone pay for our Street Tacos from a taco truck, and listened to an online missionary devotional.

We did some service with Jensen & Spotten and Olsen & Furlong helping a member move things into storage. Afterwards we showered and then Johnson's Great-Uncle from Hurricane stopped by and gave us some food. We then visited some members. We had a District Blitz today, which means we call as many people as we can. It was kinda fun, not calling but messing around in between the calls. After our blitz, Johnson and I grabbed Jimmy John's for dinner and then had a member lesson. Elder Johnson and I have had a lot of fun over this week. Our areabook not working helped us get to know each other, so some good came from some bad, huh, what do ya know.

Today was really awesome. We had a nonmember lesson! The sisters before us had one investigator named Rodger. So we had to do a handoff lesson so that it could transition from them to us. We taught the Restoration and it went well, plus he went to church afterwards! After that we had some downtime until a member lesson in the evening followed by a walk.
This was a week where, as y'all could see, not a ton happened. Elder Johnson and I have had a lot of downtime. At first I thought that was a bad thing and would lead to unproductivity, but now I see why that happened. If you all remember I was not very happy to begin this transfer, mainly because I was with Elder Johnson. But I was able to recieve some excellent advice that answered my prayers from a few missionary friends of mine who have been out a bit longer than I have. They said to be patient and love your companion. So this week I tried to do just that, be patient and love my companion. As I did, I realized that we had become friends. We had built a layer of trust and understanding, we had an actual friendship, this was worth it.
Now I know for asurity that all things happen for a reason, even if we don't know why or how. As we are patient and as we look to enjoy the little things that happen in trials, we are able to learn that it's not so bad. We must not be quick to judge. We must wait a little bit and then reflect on what we may learn. As we wait a little bit, and reflect, we may find there was good that came out of that trial, and Jesus Christ can help us see that. As we pray to The Father through Christ's name, we are able to receive the blessings promised to those who wait a little bit, and reflect. I share that in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
My friends and family, I love you. I constantly find myself excited for the day we can meet again, but also find myself trying to focus on now, so I don't let it pass by. I love you and love to hear from you. Thank you for your prayers, I have felt them this week!
