Busy B’s (Bradford & Bates)

Hey everybody time for an update on my adventures in St. George, Utah. I’m getting in as many as I can before I can’t. It’s been a busy week so without further ado...let's ado it.

Nov 30, 2020 Mon
Today was P-Day! Elder Bates and I went grocery shopping, played pickle ball with a ton of other Elders, talked and chatted with some of the Homies (ie. Gish, De Voe, etc.), talked to fam, had a bomb member lesson and set up some as well!

Today Elder Bates and I went on a run in the morning, it was 28°F and I was/am out of shape (Skinny is a shape, doesn't mean I'm in it). The run tired me out for a lot of the day. We had a Zone Devotional which was fine, 4 member lessons, plus contacting. All in all a busy and successful day.

***Elder Bradford hasn’t been on a run since before he left for Utah last June. He could never persuade his other companions to go out with him.***

Today we had a couple lessons, we set up a phat amount of lessons (no I don't mean "fat", I mean "Phat"), and went for a nice walk. Bates and I have gotten along very well and have been able to work pretty well together. Kinda wish this transfer hadn't been so weird and short but, what can you do?

Dec 3, 2020 Thurs
Today was the first in person District Council Meeting of the transfer and it was so fun! I have missed seeing my awesome District in person and it was good to finally see everyone! After that we got Jersey Mike's for lunch and chilled a bit. So for those who don't know, Elder Saucier did raps for the first 2 lessons in Preach My Gospel (lesson manual for missionaries). We had the third one planned, but transfers happened so we had to wait...until now. We are working on it and I'm so excited! The rest of the evening we had a couple lessons and that was it.

Today started kinda rough, I just felt pretty crappy and sad and low for a reason that I would have to go into the “Unknown” to find. It did get a bit better during my studies though. We had a multi zone meeting with Elder Christensen of the Seventy (a General Authority who is also referred to as Elder but is not a missionary) and he was asking us questions about how the missionary tools we used in COVID will transition into when everything is normal. It was good. It was nice to see some old faces, and by old I mean Elder Tui'one, he's about to finish his mission!

We didn't have a ton today. We went to Cedar for a baptism of a family Elder Bates taught. That was cool. It's been a very long time since I've been to a baptism. We were in Cedar for a while and we did see Johnson and his new comp. He's doing good, which makes me happy to hear. After that we had a member lesson that was so much fun!

Today was Slow Sunday, I mean Fast Sunday, meaning we fast from food but church was gonna feel long. I was wrong though, it was pretty good. We had quite a few member lessons which helped us stay busy. Our Stake Correlation meeting and the Christmas Devotional also helped. The Christmas Devotional was also awesome, super cool and lots of amazing talks...or at least 4.

As you can tell I had a much busier week this last week, so needless to say, I'm exhausted all the time. I guess that's a good thing though. I'm now able to sleep anywhere, probably the most useful skill I've gained yet.

At the Multi Zone meeting, Elder Christensen shared a story about how when missionaries come home people can notice whether that Missionary was hard working or not and on Elder Christensen's mission he posed the question "What will he see in me?"

This was referring to his Dad who was a Stake President, but I likened it unto the Savior. Changing the question from "What will he see in me?" To "What will He see in me?"

Focusing on what the Savior will think of us in the end is what truly matters. Imagine the joy you will feel if when Jesus greets you again, He looks you in the eyes and smiles lovingly, gives a big hug to you, and says "well done, though good and faithful servant."

Hearing these words would make me sob. Straight up. I would cry on the spot. Because at that moment I would finally realize, I had done enough to please The One who had done everything for me.

Jesus Christ is there waiting for us, asking us to help Him with all our strength, and helping us to do it when we asked for help. He will always be there, and every once in a while I would encourage you to ask yourself, "What will He see in me?"
I leave this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I love you and pray for you. Ever wanna talk shoot me an email, I promise I'll respond. Love you and until next week!!
Elder Bradford

***Parental Note- As you can see, Elder Bradford is doing well. He just has a few more weeks until he’ll be leaving for Uganda. He’s had to reapply for his Visa and so we are praying that he filled everything out correctly and that he gets the approval to go from their government. We also are praying he stays healthy and injury free. He needs to have a negative Covid test as it will be required to enter Uganda.
For those interested in his head injury. He does get to have the staples removed this week. I know he’s looking forward to having them out but not looking forward to the process. Thanks for all your love and support.***
