Thanks For The Memories
How's it going again! I'm here, alive and kicking in St. George and I had an interesting week too, so let's get updated.
November 23, 2020 Mon
Today was P-Day! We went shopping and actually saw a number of other Elders there. Johnson got a haircut, we talked to fam, and hungout with Elder Martin and his new comp Elder Reid and Elder Schagel and his greenie Elder Bailey. Elder Nielsen is now in Mesquite. After that we had a couple of member lessons to end the day.

Today was solid. We had a Zone Zoom Devotional which was on gratitude and was good, we did some contacting, and chilled a bit. We also had our monthly meeting with Stake and Mission President. Which was also good. Then a fun member follow up lesson. The members here are all so awesome!

Today I was pretty tired in the morning, but still got moving. We had 3 member lessons in the evening that all went awesome. We met and or got to know some amazing people and we really felt the spirit in the lessons.
November 26, 2020 Thurs
Today was Thanksgiving! It was an all day P-Day so Elder Johnson and I planned to enjoy ourselves...key word "Planned". We went and played football with some other Elders which was fun. After we were done one of the Elders got permission to use a member’s backyard while they were gone. It was nice! They had basketball/pickleball courts, lounge chairs(which I napped in), and in the back corner of the yard there was a dunk ball court(basketball hoops with trampolines). One of the Elders thought it was a good idea to lower the hoops so we could dunk better. It worked, but when I went to block a dunk I jumped right into the bottom of the rim and cut the top of my head open. A hospital trip and 8 staples later...Happy Thanksgiving. So after that we got our food for dinner from the mission(from Dennys) then our member given meal(store bought). We saved that one for later and ate the mission one. I called fam which was nice. One heck of a Thanksgiving.
Funny note when we picked up the mission meal, the older Elder said "this'll be a Thanksgiving you won't forget." In my head I was like, "oh you got that right."
***because of Covid the missionaries in this area weren’t allowed to eat at a member’s home for Thanksgiving or receive homemade food. ***

Today was the slowest day of the week. We did some contacting and that was pretty much it. All around the area people are going pretty nuts for Christmas which is kinda awesome, not gonna lie. Loving all the crazy Christmas lights.
Elder Bradford’s Christmas tree. It even lights up
Today actually ended up being my last day with Elder Johnson. So we visited Elder Martin and then did some packing. We had an awesome follow up lesson with some members and ran into a couple of Elders who were walking around to end off the night and our time. Then Elder Bates finally got here. Johnson and I parted ways. So it begins...finally.
Last pic with Elder Johnson
***A couple of weeks back Elder Johnson was supposed to be transferred but couldn’t because he and Elder Bradford were under quarantine for possibly being exposed to Covid. Shortly after transfers were to happen Elder Bradford’s new companion tested positive for Covid so he has been in quarantine ever since and finally got the approval to resume transfers. ***

Today we went to church. We couldn't meet with Rodger because he was celebrating 11 years of sobriety, so it was a good excuse if you ask me. I got to know Bates a bit today. He's from the east side of Washington state, he's a big health guy, so I feel very weak by comparison...nothing new. We had a couple of fantastic member lessons as well, which are always welcome.
This week was an interesting one. One of pain and some good news. I finally got my companion, I didn't get a concussion, and we have a good stake here.
President Nelson had a big emphasis of gratitude this past week, and if any of you are friends with me or any missionary on Facebook, you were seeing a lot of posts about it. But regardless of the posts, it was helpful to express what you are grateful for.
As for myself I have a lot. To list it out would take a long time and some remembering. Everytime I do try to remember and try to thank my Maker for all I have, my gratitude for those things or people grow, as well as my love for my Father in Heaven.
I would encourage you to find what you are grateful for, and pray to our Heavenly Father and express your gratitude. I know that this will bring more joy and help you recognize there is still good in the world.
I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
I love you all and pray for you a lot. Please send me an email and tell me how you're doing. I legitimately love it! Stay awesome everyone!
