Zone Leader? No. Errand Boy (LOCKDOWN: Too many Days/42+)
Ogamba ki mukwanos ne makka!
(What's up friends and family!)
Back again with another update! This was the 2nd to last week of the transfer which is crazy! Time is flying! Probably because we do so many errands we're always busy.
Togende! (Let's go!)
August 9, 2021 Mon
Today was P-Day! Talked to makka, cleaned, President & Sister Chatora came to do a Companion Study with Elders Lubwama & Musungo, I cleaned some more, listened to President tell us our apartment is not nice and we need a better one. Haha
Then Elder Reese & I went and got our hair trimmed on the sides to make it look a little nicer. We got some banana bread at Rolex Joint, went back to the apartment to shower, then to Njeru because pool tables are open over there for some reason.
Reese wanted a rolex so we went to my old "go to" guy, Adam. He remembered me and was really happy to see me. We talked while he made Rolex and it was a good time.
Then we picked up Bitter & Khamisi, bought ice cream from my old "go to" ice cream girl (who also remembered me), then played some pool at some questionable pool tables. They weren't very good.
After that Reese & I dropped Bitter & Khamisi off, went to Rolex Joint again, and came back to the apartment.
August 10, 2021 Tues
Today started off pretty poorly. First off, a super loud chirping noise started around 3 or 4 and didn't stop till after the alarm at 6:30. Second, my stomach was giving me problems . . . that's all I'll say.
Other than my lovely morning, Reese & I did go to Wanyange because originally we were going to bring them to Bugembe for the night while paint in their apartment dried, but that fell through so we ended up just hanging out talking.
I did a Baptismal Interview, Reese & I did a lesson over the phone, and Reese, Gumbato, & I talked for a long while.
After Wanyange it was pretty late (6ish) so we ate Rolex Joint, then came back to the apartment, then Musungo and I ran again.

Today we had District Council Meeting. We played a Prank on Musungo saying President was coming to it and making our DCM early. Musungo believed it and got ready in less than 5 Minutes, when he realized we were joking we laughed so hard.
Then we had our DCM, which was good. After, it Reese & I were hungry for something nice, so we both got a Bacon Cheeseburger from Java House. Then to Njeru to pick up a smoke alarm and drop off some Books of Mormon, as well as make some calls.
At 4:00 we had a meeting with President Chatora and the Jinja Stake President, discussing the Missionary Work in the Stake and how to help it move forward. It was a short but good one.
I found out a couple things. First, we can teach in-person at Chapels, Hallelujah. Second, potentially 8 Missionaries could be added to the Zone next transfer, could be interesting.
After that we helped out the Walukuba missionaries with stuff they needed and with some transport for Exchanges. After the whole day, I wasn't feeling very good, so I passed out pretty quick.
August 12, 2021 Thurs
Today I did not feel all that great in the morning. My stomach and head felt bad when I walked around, but I felt very fine when I sat or laid down. I even called a Referral in bed. Reese went with Lubwama to go grab our Bead Ties we ordered, which look pretty awesome.
Then came to the conclusion that I needed to eat more, so Reese & I went to the deli. A member from Kampala Reese knew, Janet, was in town so she joined us. At the Deli I got a Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with a Dr. Pepper . . . I know . . . HEAVENLY. I was a very happy boy after that and felt great!
After that we took Mutheu & Soluka to Walukuba from Town, went to Mama G's (who made the Bead Ties we got) to pick up Sisters Cele and Kyalimpai (who were on Exchanges) and transport them to finish their exchange.
Finished the day with a run with Musungo.
August 13, 2021 Fri
Today began with a Personal Study which mainly took place in the bathroom . . . I'm leaving that there. Reese & I had some errands to run so we went from Jinja to Walukuba to Mpumudde (dropped something from Walukuba Sisters) to Wanyange (Reese conducted a Baptismal Interview, I saw a 9 or 10 inch lizard, pretty wizard).
After that we had a lesson in-person! We taught a guy at the chapel named Emmanuel about The Book of Mormon and it went really well!
August 14, 2021 Sat
Today Walukuba was having a Baptism and needed another baptismal jumpsuit, so Reese & I had to go grab one from Jinja Chapel, which took a minute, then take it to the Baptism, and wished Elder Merzlock a Happy Birthday.
After that we met up with Elders Bitter & Khamisi in town, pulled allotment (and some personal), and went to Rolex Joint. Bitter decided to do "The Blackout Challenge", eating 2 Blackouts (which is the Biggest Rolex at the Joint) in 10 minutes. Elders Cates & Gumbato rolled up in time to watch. Reese bet that Bitter couldn't do it. Reese lost. Bitter finished with 1.30 remaining. We were joking, laughing, having a good time.
Afterwards, Reese wanted to look for souvenirs and gifts for his fam, so we did a little souvenir shopping. I got some dope bracelets, a cool red backpack (cause I need one), and some sweet shorts.
After that we helped Sisters Ramson & Kyalimpai transport a newly purchased suitcase from town to Mpumudde. After that we picked up Mutheu & Soluka and took them back to their apartment. Then went back to ours, tired.
August 15, 2021 Sun
Today we went to Mpumudde to give the Sisters the Sacrament, but Cates & Gumbato were already there when we got there so we just joined them and enjoyed some food and conversation together after it.
Then we came back to the apartment grabbed Lubwama & Musungo, dropped something in Walukuba, then went on a District Sunday Drive through Wanyange's country-side. Got some dope pics of beautiful views.
After that came back to the apartment and relaxed, had dinner, and ended the week. Holy cow week 5 is done!
Yesterday I was ironing my shirt listening to a talk from Dieter F. Uchtdorf when something he said struck me so strongly.
"Perhaps you might think that you are not needed, that you are overlooked or unwanted, that you are nobody. I am sincerely sorry if any priesthood holder feels this way. Certainly you are not overlooked or unwanted by your Heavenly Father. He loves you. And I tell you with certainty that you are needed by your Church. Do you not know that “God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to [put to shame] the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to [put to shame] the things which are mighty”?"
Now obviously this was given to Priesthood Holders, but just replace the one time when it says that with something that applies to you. This really hit me hard, not entirely sure why, but maybe I just needed the reminder. I think we often do.
Do we forget that we are loved by a Perfect, All Powerful Father?
He in His Perfection loves us in our imperfections not because He has to, but because he wants to.
Because of that love WE ARE WORTH SOMETHING, no matter what anyone may say or do to you to prove otherwise.
The most Powerful Being in The Universe loves you.
Don't forget that.
Mbyogedde mulinya lya Yesu Kristo, amiina.
Send me an email! You guys are awesome and I miss ya! Tell me what you're up to! Ask me a crazy question! Tell me a bad joke! Or a good one would be nice too haha.
Qwagala mukwanos era makka gwange!
(I love you my friends and family!)
