Oh Wow Time is Flying
(What's up friends and family!)
Ladies and Gents I have officially begun my Last Six Weeks of my Mission! That being said, this last week was full of some sweet moments and some that kinda made me sad so...
Tugende! (Let's go!)
September 27, 2021 Mon
Today was P-Day! Talked to makka, sent emails, relaxed. Fierro & I went to town to buy some Souvenirs and we also went to The Deli for lunch. I got a chicken sandwich and a Dr. Pepper, you know it was a good day.
After that we stopped by the supermarket to buy some things, one of which was maybe the greatest purchase of my mission, a water pistol.
After getting everything we needed, we headed to the Sisters and I showed off my new purchase, I shot Nyankombe with it and then gave it to her, following which she started to shoot everyone, but me haha!
After a minute there Fierro & I went to Walukuba to play pool with the Elders. I had the Elders hold Mark, their guard so I could shoot him with the water pistol. It was truly Hilarious! Then while playing pool, if you lost a game you got shot by the water pistol. Everyone got shot. I played 3 games and won 2, not bad for not playing pool for a month!
September 28, 2021 Tues
Today we had a weird, but good day. It didn't get weird until our lesson with Daniel. We met with Daniel who brought a friend named Martin, which was cool. We had some good conversations. After we started the lesson two other guys show up randomly and join our lesson. One of them was someone the Sisters were teaching and the other was an Online Referral we received. So they joined our lesson on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Immediately after the lesson we had another with Rachel on the Word of Wisdom. Following that we had Roberto take us to visit some part member families and some Referrals. It was a good day, just kinda weird.
September 29, 2021 Weds
Today we had District Council Meeting which was good. We have a really fun District here. After DCM we pulled allotment then went and got pizza at a different place than usual.
After lunch we went to the Chapel, contacted Referrals, took care of some shopping stuff for the Sisters and ourselves.
At one point we picked up the Sisters from the Main Market and were driving them to the supermarket. On Main Street where we were driving, there's a divider that divides the two lanes with some grass on it.
Well, we passed this guy standing on it, and as we pass him Nyankombe had her window down, which proved to be a mistake. This guy throws an entire cup of water through the window onto the Sisters!
I was so in shock as to what just happened I didn't hop out to grab this fool.
After helping the sisters with their groceries, we then dropped them off at their apartment. Following that Fierro & I went to Bugembe to begin our Exchange with Musungo & Tshabangu. Musungo was going with Fierro in Jinja and I would be with Tshabangu in Bugembe. Should be fun!
September 30, 2021 Thurs
Today I had my Exchange with Elder Tshabangu in Bugembe, and it was pretty good. Of course we had our morning study schedule, then left we the apartment and did some Street Contacting during which time Elder Tshabangu literally talked to everyone. He's got fire for the work!
After that we grabbed some lunch and headed to the Chapel. We had a couple of lessons and talked to members it was a good time.
Also while walking around a Boda Boda pulled over and asked if I remembered him. He removed his mask and it was a member from Masaka, Ivan! I remembered him because I interviewed his wife for baptism! So funny to run into him here.
After a minute we returned to Bugembe Apartment, listened to Devotionals, and I packed my stuff. Fierro & Musungo pulled up, we ended our Exchange, then Fierro & I headed back to Jinja.
October 1, 2021 Fri
Today was a lot of Zone Leader stuff. We did some Working Fund, we had to go to Bugembe for a Baptismal Interview which went great, went to Walukuba to help the Sisters with some Health Stuff, then we had a lesson with a family with some unbaptized kids. It went well, we talked about the Book of Mormon and showed a Book of Mormon Video.
After that we had to go to the chapel to prep some stuff for the baptism of Joshua, then we went to the Sisters to wash the baptismal clothes. There we found out our transfer news.
The APs sent us a voice message and of course Fierro & I were last. Elder Merzlock is going to be Elder Fierro's new companion here in Jinja and I will be in Mukono, training my last transfer!! I'm kinda sad to leave Jinja, but I have been getting comfortable here, and every time I get comfortable I get transferred. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. But I am super excited to have a Son on the mission.

Today was a little stressful, but so worth it. We had to make sure everything was prepared for Joshua's baptism so we went in the morning to check on the font. Then went to the Sister Training Leaders to take them to the hospital, dropped them off, went and picked our District's Sisters and dropped them at the chapel, then back to Walukuba to take the STLs from the hospital back to their apartment, then flew to the chapel for the baptism.
Even though it seems like this morning didn't go very smoothly, the baptism did, with no problem. The service went great, Joshua was baptized by Roberto, and bore a simple but powerful testimony. It was awesome.
A while after the baptism we had a lesson with Derrick, who showed up randomly to a lesson earlier this week. We shared with him about the Restoration and he really liked it.
After that lesson, we went to Kimaka with a referral from Roberto named Timmothy. We shared with him and his friend about the Restoration which also went well.
We also watched General Conference which was powerful, so good!
October 3, 2021 Sun
Today we had Church, at which Joshua was Confirmed and we had many people at church! It was awesome! After church we had a quick meeting with Bishop then Fierro & I flew to Iganga to pick up Elder Mataga who is finishing his mission. So we were the ones who took him to Kampala.
We drove to Kampala all the way to Ntinda Apartment where we saw a lot of other missionaries, most of the MLC. We all had fun catching up and talking the rest of the day. Fierro & I were spending the night in Ntinda.
This week Fierro & I had a conversation in Companion Study about something I've noticed about other churches. When you ask other Christians what Jesus Christ did for us they say he Died on the Cross for us. And while that is true that is only a portion of the story.
The reason I thought about this was because I read a Scripture in 1 Nephi 19 verse 9;
"And the world, because of their iniquity, shall judge him to be a thing of naught; wherefore they scourge him, and he suffereth it; and they smite him, and he suffereth it. Yea, they spit upon him, and he suffereth it, because of his loving kindness and his long-suffering towards the children of men."
Sometimes other Christian Churches don't seem to understand how much Christ actually suffered. So let me put it like this.
Imagine the worst, most painful experience of your life. The time of your life that brought you the lowest and saddest you've every been.
Got it?
Good.
Cause Christ suffered that for you.
Not to take that suffering from you, but to help you know that you are not alone and it will be okay.
Please remember that Jesus Christ loves you and not only is there for you, but there with you. I testify mulinya lya Yesu Kristo, amiina.
Well people, only got 6 more of these I believe so . . . EMAIL ME! Please tell me what's going down over in your town!
Qwagala mukwanos era makka gwange!
(I love you my friends and family!)
