Week Five for Flying (LOCKDOWN...OVER???)
(What's up friends and family!)
Well, this week flew by and it was one heck of a roller coaster! I had a lot of stuff to do and I may or may not have been completely overwhelmed by it, buuuut I am learning to stay whelmed.
Tugende! (Let's go!)
September 20, 2021 Mon
Today was P-Day! Talked to makka, sent emails, relaxed, bought groceries, and decided to treat ourselves for lunch by going to the Deli! Fierro & I wanted to try the wraps, but also get a sandwich, so we decided to split both, we both got half a roast beef wrap and half a roast beef sandwich. Both were very good, especially since I washed it down with a Dr. Pepper. Truly a blessed day.
We also had a Zoom Technology Council Meeting in the evening which was alright. Fierro & I were laughing crackin jokes the whole time. Other than that, we ended the day and mentally prepared for the week ahead.
September 21, 2021 Tues
Today we had to leave early to take the Sister Training Leaders (Sisters Uwera & Mananga) for their exchanges with our Sisters and head to Iganga for our exchanges. We arrived in Iganga in time for morning Studies.
I joined Elders Mataga & Kabengele for the day and Elder Fierro joined his Son and Grandson on the mission Elders Fleinde & Mabvira. For my companionship we tried setting up some lessons with only one lucky call. We went to the chapel and waited for him to come.
We had the lesson and it was long. Long for 2 reasons; because it was just straight up long time wise and because I had to go to the bathroom SO BADLY. After the lesson was over I power waddled to the bathroom.
When all was said and done, we took everyone back to the Iganga Apartment, grabbed Mataga's stuff, then took Mataga with us back to Jinja to stay the night because he's going to Kampala for a Work Permit. We drove, helped the Sisters with finishing their Exchanges, helped out Sister Manwere (who is now staying with the Jinja Sisters because her companion went home), grabbed some stuff, ended the day.

Today was a little all over the place. We picked up Sisters Uwera & Mananga's bags, then went to District Council Meeting which had an extra couple faces with Elder Mataga and Sister Manwere, and after wards went to the chapel and had pizza that Martha brought for us! So nice of her!
Mission Leadership Council was in person and we needed to leave today to head to Kampala. The original travel plans changed a lot this morning, but we ended up meeting up with Elders Kearsley & Munyapa (The East Zone Leaders), dropping Mataga and an Elder they brought at a taxi to Kampala, picking up the Sisters then high tailin' it to Kampala. Along the way I saw a dude just chillin' strapped with an RPG. Low key freaked me out cause that's high key crazy dangerous.
We got to Kampala, made it to the Ntinda Sisters Apartment, dropped the STLs, then met up with the APs at a middle eastern restaurant. It was super nice, but not too expensive. We even met the owner and he got us a dessert crepe for the table to share.
Following that delicious dinner, we met up with Elders Lewis & Bear (North ZLs), Bitter & Hamblin (Masaka ZLs), and our crew. Lewis gave me a fresh haircut, I finally look like myself again! Haha!
September 23, 2021 Thurs
Today we had Mission Leadership Council in person! We had to do a couple things just before it started at the Mission Home at 10:00 (during that time Fierro accidentally slammed a Boda Boda that appeared out of nowhere with the car). It was pretty good, a lot of good trainings, I especially liked the APs training. Plus we got the news that Church is Returning to In Person!!!
Afterwards, we all walked over to this big Ugandan food place for lunch and pictures. It was very fun just to be around all these Elders who are fun guys.
After all that, Fierro & I had phone problems that got fixed, traded the Isuzu for our old Hilux (gave it a name, Kilexi), did a couple errands, picked up our STLs and their stuff, then left to go back to Jinja.
It took 5ever to get back. We didn't get back until after 7:00 in the evening. I almost immediately went to bed.
Fierro & my day had a busy start and a slower end. We had to go to Bugembe to fill their gas and drop off some things, then to grab some food, then to the chapel for some lessons.
We had one with a new guy named Dennis, whom we taught the Restoration, and another with Daniel who we taught the Book of Mormon, then our other lesson bounced us.
The rest of the day was planning, eating, and other stuff.
September 25, 2021 Sat
Today began with a MASSIVE wrench thrown in our plans. We got a call from O'driscol at 6:45am saying we needed too drive to Mukono today to pick an Elder who just arrived in Uganda. Fierro & I were supposed to help out Sister Manwere with some Baptismal Stuff, but now we couldn't. Lucky for us though Musungo pulled through with the save.
Fierro & I dropped the Sisters in Mpumedde, and we went to Java House for an 11:00 breakfast, because the APs postponed our arrival time by an hour. We got a breakfast sandwich which was quite nice. After that we drove to Mukono (which is on the outskirts of Kampala) to pick up Elder Williams who was in Uganda for 6 months before Evacuation and chose to wait 18 months to come back out. He's a cool guy and he talked the whole drive back to Jinja.
He's gonna be in Walukuba for the rest of the transfer so we dropped him at that apartment and helped him get settled.
Today we had in person church for the first time since June. Fierro & I picked up the Sisters and we all went to the Chapel. Fierro & I had Daniel, Rachel, and Joshua come to church which was great! We met with Joshua after church to plan his Baptism. We are planning on him being Baptized this Saturday!
After we met with Joshua, our District took pictures and had fun, Fierro & I went and had lunch, then we went to visit Sylivia (one of my favorite members). We talked, sang, learned, and prayed while it rained. Totally worth the trip and the wet clothes.
Other than that, we did Zone Leader stuff and ended our week. Week Five flew by!
A certain quote has been a reoccurring thought throughout the week, that being, "I am one with the Force and the Force is with me."
Now maybe I read in to things too much, but I feel like there is a Gospel lesson that can be learned here. Let's switch some words out for some others.
How about, "I am one with God and God is with me."
How can we be one with God? Maybe we can as we seek to align our will with His, by keeping His commandments, seeking His council, and by being the kind of person who He would be proud of. As a consequence to this, God would be with us.
As we seek to be with God, God will be with us.
That sounds pretty good to me. I thought that I should share that, and I do so mulinya lya Yesu Kristo, amiina.
Well it's the end of this episode or update or whatever you wanna call these things. I hope y'all are doing well!
Qwagala mukwanos era makka gwange!
(I love you my friends and family!)
